Dollhouse Therapy ~ Bed and Bath

Dollhouse Therapy ~ Bed and Bath

I'm so excited! Today is the first reveal day of the #Dollhouse Therapy challenge! It's a pretty simple challenge. Anyone can play along. You get one month to fix up one or two rooms in your dollhouse, and on the last Tuesday of the month, you post pics of your rooms on either your blog or Instagram. The challenge runs for another two months. Get the full details over on Primitive & Proper. I found a 1:18 scale Lundby dollhouse on Craigstlist for a steal at only $40. Even though I have plenty…Read more

2016 Pantone Colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity

We are about a quarter of the way through the year, and I thought now might be a good time to check in with our new Pantone Color of the Year. Normally, Pantone names only one color per year, but this year was special and they gave us a pair of colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity. To help you get into the spirit of these colors, I've made a set of printable dollhouse wallpapers! As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our…Read more
How To Build a Vacuum Table

How To Build a Vacuum Table

During my move, my vacuum table was damaged. All was not lost though, I’ve decided to show you how to make one while I remake mine. Since I’m just copying my old one, some of the photos will be different from the written instructions you’ll need to do to create your own from scratch. What is a Vacuum Table? Vacuum tables are devices that use suction to securely hold work pieces during machining. They are most commonly used during CNC cutting, whether with a mill or router, or with a drag knife. They…Read more

2015’s Top 5 Most Popular Posts

Let's start the year off with a quick look back at last year's top 5 most popular posts. These were some of my favorite ones to write, I'm so glad everyone enjoyed them as much as I did! If you've missed one, now is a great chance to catch up. (#6) Barely not making it into the top five, is the most recent of our tutorial posts on Scale! This post explains and has pictures of many of the common doll scales, including standard 1:12 dollhouse, half and quarter, Barbie and American Girl Doll.   #5 Our…Read more
2016 Dollhouse Miniatures Show List & Map

2016 Dollhouse Miniatures Show List & Map

Since last year's post was so popular, I've made a show list and map for this year as well. I've made a few changes to it; this post will serve as the master list, and each month I'll make a post for each month's shows. This page will link to the monthly ones. These are all the shows that exist as far as I can tell. If I've missed one, leave the information in the comments and I can add it in. Note, these are shows that are open to the public. I have not included…Read more
Holiday Ornament Gift Exchange (with Tutorials!)

Holiday Ornament Gift Exchange (with Tutorials!)

Yesterday my club had our holiday party. One of the traditions is to do an ornament exchange. Everyone makes a number of ornaments (however many people are participating) and then we all put one ornament into each paper bag around the table. As this was my first year, I didn't know what to expect, and for a long time I was stumped on what to make. Eventually I got the idea to make tiny paper stars. I'd made a bunch in high school, and I figured I could attach a loop of thread…Read more
Columbus Miniature Society Annual Show

Columbus Miniature Society Annual Show

On Saturday my club, the Columbus Miniature Society, held its annual show. This was the first retail show I participated in. I shared a table with three other ladies and sold my garlands, key chains, and calendars. The event was well attended and there were about 25 vendors. We had a few fun little workshops on Friday in between setting up, and also one during the show. There was an exhibit room and I entered two exhibits. At first I was concerned that I'd not have anything to show. I'm still a relative newcomer to dollhousing…Read more
