Dollhouse Therapy ~ Kitchen

Dollhouse Therapy ~ Kitchen

Today is the final day of the #DollhouseTherapy challenge. It's been an exciting three months and now I have a lovely new and *finished* dollhouse, my very first! The State Fair is coming up, and I've entered many of the miniature categories. As they have one for alternate scales (not 1:12, 1:24, or 1:48), I'm going to enter this house. Wish me luck! So the last room to tackle was the kitchen. I'd tried last month to get it done, but last month ended up being rather crazy, so I back-burnered the kitchen…Read more
Dollhouse Therapy ~ Entry Hall & Living Room

Dollhouse Therapy ~ Entry Hall & Living Room

Oh man, this was a rough month to get through. On May 2nd, I had my tonsils out. As an adult, I can assure you, it does hurt worse than it would have had I still been a little kid. Something about larger surface areas. Also, fun fact: I'm immune to the effects of Hydrocodone, aka Vicodine, and that was the *only* pain med they allowed me to have for the whole first week. Imagine a week of post-op with no pain meds, fun times. Well, with my mom's help, I did get through it. While…Read more
Dollhouse Therapy ~ Bed and Bath

Dollhouse Therapy ~ Bed and Bath

I'm so excited! Today is the first reveal day of the #Dollhouse Therapy challenge! It's a pretty simple challenge. Anyone can play along. You get one month to fix up one or two rooms in your dollhouse, and on the last Tuesday of the month, you post pics of your rooms on either your blog or Instagram. The challenge runs for another two months. Get the full details over on Primitive & Proper. I found a 1:18 scale Lundby dollhouse on Craigstlist for a steal at only $40. Even though I have plenty…Read more
Holiday Ornament Gift Exchange (with Tutorials!)

Holiday Ornament Gift Exchange (with Tutorials!)

Yesterday my club had our holiday party. One of the traditions is to do an ornament exchange. Everyone makes a number of ornaments (however many people are participating) and then we all put one ornament into each paper bag around the table. As this was my first year, I didn't know what to expect, and for a long time I was stumped on what to make. Eventually I got the idea to make tiny paper stars. I'd made a bunch in high school, and I figured I could attach a loop of thread…Read more
Columbus Miniature Society Annual Show

Columbus Miniature Society Annual Show

On Saturday my club, the Columbus Miniature Society, held its annual show. This was the first retail show I participated in. I shared a table with three other ladies and sold my garlands, key chains, and calendars. The event was well attended and there were about 25 vendors. We had a few fun little workshops on Friday in between setting up, and also one during the show. There was an exhibit room and I entered two exhibits. At first I was concerned that I'd not have anything to show. I'm still a relative newcomer to dollhousing…Read more
The Cottage Continues!

The Cottage Continues!

So it's been a while since I've posted about the Hobby Builder Supply Co Creatin' Contest build. Happily now though, I can give you the much anticipated status update. If you've been following along on my build's Pinterest board, you might have noticed an influx of beachy imagery. Yes, that's what I'm going for with this house. I'm going to do a lofted sleeping space, a small bathroom in the back behind the bed space, and on the other side a living room with a kitchen and an island in the back. About the…Read more
Photo Instructions for the City Cottage Kit

Photo Instructions for the City Cottage Kit

As the sequel to my Curved Roof Inspiration post, this month's post is step by step instructions on how to assemble the limited edition Denise's City Cottage Kit.  By now I hope some of you have ordered your City Cottage Kit and are participating in the HBS/ miniatures.com Creatin Contest. The contest deadline is still far away in December, so even if you haven't ordered yours yet, you've still got time to join the fun. While it is actually a really simple kit, the instructions come with a single picture, and that can present a challenge to…Read more
